VertueLab Named Phase 1 Winner As Part of NWCIN for EPIC Round 3
[PORTLAND, OR] - VertueLab, a Pacific Northwest-based nonprofit addressing the causes and impacts of the climate crisis through funding and support of climate tech innovation, has just been announced as a Phase 1 winner of the Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) Round 3 as part of the Northwest Cleantech Innovation Center Network (NWCIN). Funded by the DOE Office of Technology Transitions, the EPIC program awarded twenty-three accelerators and incubators across the nation $150,000 each to support energy startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs within their communities. NWCIN represents the Pacific Northwest as the sole organization to win EPIC Round 3.
Composed of VertueLab, the CleanTech Alliance, and Washington Clean Energy Testbeds, NWCIN provides comprehensive entrepreneurial support to accelerate the development, success, and commercialization of early stage cleantech startups in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska Western Canada and beyond. This grant will further empower NWCIN’s mission to accelerate the development and deployment of cutting-edge clean energy technologies within the region.
This marks the third consecutive year of the EPIC program’s competition. Designed to encourage energy innovation ecosystems, increase local business productivity, and improve the commercial success of energy startups, the year-long program concludes with the opportunity for grand prize winners to negotiate a cooperative agreement with OTT worth up to $1 million.
