9.30.19 OSU Lab to Market: Badass Women Increasing Research Impact event recap

What do an aquaculture monitoring researcher, a sex tech entrepreneur, and a dual-hat, bio-based sunblock entrepreneur who is also a commercialization catalyst manager all have in common?

...They are all BADASS!

About 40+ intrigued students, fellow entrepreneurs, researchers, and support service staff gathered at the evening event on the beautiful OSU campus this recent September 30.

Moderated by OSU's Associate Vice President for Research Administration & Development, Tuba Ozkan-Haller, the OSU Advantage Accelerator and VertueLab co-hosted this event to spotlight BADASS women sharing their insights into fundraising, grant management, scaling, and managing a startup. The entrepreneur panel was followed by experts of different funding opportunities including: SBIR/STTR federal funding, state matching dollars, university funding, and other catalyzing funds.

In addition to learning about available resources and startup pathways, the panelists dabbled in conversation around:

  • the importance of utilizing resources (such as guest experts)

  • hiring the right team members; when is the right time to grow your team when strapped on resources

  • taking advantage of opportunities when they arise

  • "Culture eats strategy..."

  • the need for more women and overall culture inclusivity in the tech sector

Thank you to all of our BADASS panelists!
