Cleantech is Different
Starting a technology company is hard.
Starting a cleantech company is really hard. We’ve worked with more than 100 cleantech startups over the past decade. We understand the challenges cleantech entrepreneurs face, and have developed programs to help them succeed - and to help them become investor-ready. Investors have come to depend on us to send them pre-screened and well prepared companies that are credible investment opportunities.
"When evaluating any cleantech company, we always look for
the VertueLab seal of approval, which lends a great deal of credibility."
- Jim Huston, Managing Director, Portland Seed Fund
How Do We Help?
- Investor-readiness coaching
- Proof of concept funding

- Assistance with federal grants
What Do You Need?
I need more people resources but have limited funds.
The VertueLab Intern Program provides critical people resources who help move your company ahead without creating a financial burden.
How do I test my idea?
The Cascadia Cleantech Accelerator program explains how to test the many key aspects of a business model before spending (and possibly wasting) a lot of time developing the wrong idea.
How do I successfully raise funding from investors?
VertueLab investor-ready mentoring, investor introductions, and pitch competitions have helped cleantech startups raise millions of dollars from traditional and impact investors.
We need to build a prototype but don’t have the funding.
The VertueLab Prototype and Proof of Concept Grant Program provides early stage cleantech startups with funding to build a prototype and prove their technology through third party validation.
Our prototype works! But how do we start a manufacturing operation?
The VertueLab Cleantech Manufacturing Curriculum and our partnership with the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership help cleantech companies navigate the complex world of manufacturing.
I need to meet potential strategic partners but don’t have the right network.
VertueLab understands cleantech and has a robust
network of partners. We do individual introductions and hold networking events between startups and strategic investors. Our signature event is the VertueLab Impact Summit, held each September.
What is the Cascadia Cleantech Accelerator?
VertueLab, in partnership with the Cleantech Alliance, runs a Pacific NW regional 15-week accelerator program, geared for early stage cleantech startups. The program includes business training workshops, mentoring, conference showcase opportunities, introductions to a community of entrepreneurs and investors, and more. Participants build a strong support network while learning how to develop and launch their business.
"By participating in the Cascadia Cleantech Accelerator and connecting with VertueLab's network
of industry experts, we've been able to prime ourselves for growth in the Pacific Northwest"
- Harrison Kingery, Res-Intel
