Anna McCoy is a founding partner of intellectual property law firm, McCoy Russell LLP which is one of the largest women-owned Intellectual Property firms in the Pacific Northwest issuing over 750 patents in 2018. For the last eighteen years, she has represented both local clients and large fortune 500 companies and has extensive experience counseling entrepreneurs and start-up companies. Anna further has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent and trademark properties at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as managing foreign portfolios. Her experience includes expertise in numerous sectors, including medical device technologies, biochemical and chemical technologies, battery technologies, and imaging technologies as well as experience in technologies related to software development, AI, machine learning and the Internet of Things. Anna further has specific specialty practices in design protections and branding, including tradedress.
McCoy received her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland where she was a member of the Journal of Small and Emerging Business Law as well as a Business Law Roundtable Scholar. She also did graduate work at Oregon Health Science University with a focus in pharmacology and electrophysiology. Anna is active in the local legal community and is a member of the Oregon Women’s Lawyers Association and the Oregon Patent Law Association as well as having previously been a chair on the Oregon State Bar Intellectual Property Executive Committee.
